I try not to make this blog about me and mine but this week is an exception. September 24th marks the anniversary of my daughter’s open heart surgery.
My baby was born with two major heart defects. She spent 17 weeks on the ICU front lines. She is a warrior, and the toughest baby on my block. Today I am thankful that her health is perfect.
For this week only I am going to put aside my shyness and invite you to come meet my baby girl and the rest of the gang.
10/13/09 Update
If you missed seeing the video, it will be back next year in Sept.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful video! October 3 marks the one-year anniversary of my Benjamin's open-heart surgery. He had two defects at birth but thankfully never had to spend any time in the NICU when he was born. He had his OHS at 5 1/2 months and only spent about a week at the hospital.
ReplyDeleteYour little girl is so precious and such a fighter. I truly do believe that God not only gave our kids an extra chromosome but also a little extra something to deal with all the curveballs life throws at them.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Thank you, Thank you! Thank you for this amazing blog, thank you for introducing yourself and your beautiful family. My fourth daughter was born 8-2008 and diagnosed w/Down Sydrome the following day. Not to share my story here, but it has been an emotional road for me. I have read this blog and several others listed for sometime now and have reached a point were I am ready (and want) to become a part of this great community of people. This bolg and the others I read have been an inspiration and source of hope when I felt like my family and I were alone in this. Thank you! Andrea Wiley, CA
ReplyDeleteThis still brings tears to my eyes, this was such a difficult time for all of us, DSMama, your family loves you deeply and Summer Rain is truely blessed to have a mother like you.
